چکیده

The IEEE network technology is the emerging standard for wireless LANs and mobile networking The fundamental access mechanism in the IEEE MAC protocol is the Distributed Coordination Function In this paper we present an analytical method of estimating the saturation throughput of wireless LAN in the assumption of ideal channel conditions The proposed method generalizes the existing LAN models and advances them in order to take the Seizing E ect into consideration This real life e ect consists in the following the station that has just completed successfully its transmission has a better chance of winning in the competition and therefore of seizing the channel than other LAN stations The saturation throughput of wireless LANs is investigated by the developedmethod The obtained numerical results are validated by simulation and lead to the change of the existing idea of the optimal access strategy in the saturation conditions

Saturation and Non-saturation Throughput and Packet Delay Analysis of Ieee 802.11 Dcf for Ad-hoc Networks

A wireless LAN is a data transmission system. This paper presents an analytic model to evaluate the throughput and delay performance of AFR over noisy channels. In comparatively to other models, our model reaches the more accurate. The Analytical and simulation analysis models are developed to estimate the throughput and delay performance of AFR over a noisy channel.

Optimization of IEEE 802.11 Multirate Wireless LAN

IEEE 802.11 standards support multiple data transmission rates with dynamic rate switching capability to improve the performance. With multirate enhancement, data transmission from wireless LAN (WLAN) stations can take place at various rates according to channel conditions. This paper investigates the problem of optimizing aggregate saturation throughput of a multirate WLAN. Analytical expressi...

Multi-user Diversity for IEEE 802.11 Infrastructure Wireless LAN

To realize high data rate wireless communication systems, much attention is being payed to multi-user diversity due to large bandwidth availability. Multi-user diversity based opportunistic scheduling is a modern view communication over fading wireless channels, whereby, unlike rate adaptation based schemes, channel variations are exploited rather than mitigated. This paper proposes a multi-use...

Optional Tools of the Wi-Fi protocol: Study in Saturation

IEEE 802.11 protocol called also the Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) one specifies a technology for wireless local area networks (LANs) and mobile networking. In contrary to previous works dealing with the Basic Mechanism of the protocol, in this paper we focus on such optional tools as the RTS/CTS technique and packet fragmentation, which are oriented on fight with collisions and noise-induced disto...

Performance analysis of IEEE 802.11 MAC protocols in wireless LANs

IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol is the de facto standard for wireless LANs, and has also been implemented in many network simulation packages for wireless multi-hop ad hoc networks. However, it is well known that, as the number of active stations increases, the performance of IEEE 802.11 MAC in terms of delay and throughput degrades dramatically, especially when each station’s load approaches to its s...
